What do I like best about ringing in a new year? A new year brings so many exciting possibilities. It’s a time to start over, to begin anew. January 1 is like opening the page of the next book on my TBR pile. I’ve read the back cover blurb, I’ve admired the cover, maybe I’ve read some reviews. I can’t wait to start reading. I start every new book hoping it’ll end up on my keeper shelf.
That’s how I like to begin my new year. I don’t really make resolutions, but I do journal and daydream about what I want to accomplish in the coming year.
Is every book I start reading my favorite? No. Sometimes, I don’t even finish. So it stands to reason that not every year is going to be as grand as I expect. But that doesn’t stop me from dreaming big.
My favorite quote: “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.” ~Les Brown

ReplyDeleteAmy, those are my favorite things, too. We don't like to go out on New Year's (too many crazies) so our kids always have their friends to our house.
I love the promise of a new year ;) richnkathy718 (at) msn (dot) com
ReplyDeleteI've never understood the journal thing, though I've known many people (all women, hmmm)who have kept them. I guess that's why I'm a reader, not a writer.
ReplyDeleteHere's to many good books in 2012!

I don't do resolutions either. They are too easily broken. I do try to make some goals to just make my life better and to improve myself.

I usually have spent my NYE with the family, watching the countdown on tv, eating snacks and playing games, maybe not memorable, but good times all the same! :)

Most of my New Years memories are about being home with my family.
ReplyDeletesstrode at scrtc dot com
That's how I try to think about the year too. I may not like every little thing that happens but hopefully there will be plenty of good to outway the crappy parts. Last year that wasn't the case but this year is fresh and so I'm starting optomistic.
ReplyDeletea_breen87@yahoo(dot)com
I think that is a healthy outlook on the New Year. Resolutions put too much pressure on people.
ReplyDeletegeishasmom73 AT yahoo DOT com
I'm horrible about keeping resoltions. Pretty much the only thing I really want this year is to go to RT and to read more books than I did last year. I gotta beat like 125? Thanks for sharing!

I spend New Years with one or two friends. We watch movies, eat and drink too much and are always home early. I don't make resolutions either anymore. Always end up breaking them.

Kaye--Thank you for the blog compliment. I try to make it easy to navigate.
Vanessa--You just made my day. So glad you liked Borrowed Stilettos--I hope you like my new book just as much. It's not as steamy (you'll have to wait for my 3rd book for that), but just as fun and romantic. Let me know what you think.
Thank you for sharing! My family watches movies for new years. We like to stay in and just enjoy. Were not much for partying. Happy new year!

Hi, Rebecca!
ReplyDeleteMy New Year memory was to spend my time with my family and attended my cousin's wedding at the Disneyland World, located in Florida.
My New Year Resolution 2012 - I'm considered to start writing my first book but I need to find my free time first. Who knows?

thank you for the chance at such a great giveaway.
ReplyDeletemy favorite memory is the year my husband asked me to marry him.
my main NYR is to quit smoking. i have already cut the amount from 1 1/2 packs a day to less than 1/2 a pack a day so now i just need to finish going the distance. it is a tough habit to break and i have been smoking for 30+ years. last year my mother got sick and has had lung problems since, her doctor told us that she needed to quit and we made a deal to do it together. it has been a slow go but we are getting there.
my next NYR is to improve myself as a writer and try to find a group to help with that.
i hope that all of you have a blessed and joyful New Year and may all of your dreams and wishes come true.
